At Dallas First Christian Church, our mission is to spread the message of God's love and grace to our congregation and the wider community.
Through meaningful worship, biblical teaching, and compassionate outreach, we seek to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals and families, both locally and beyond.
We welcome all into worship and the Body of Christ. We are committed to living out the values of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our mission is to love God, love others, and share the good news of Jesus Christ in our community and into the world.
We are committed to loving God and loving others, and to be known for our love for one another.
We strive to glorify God through worship that is rooted in scripture, and that draws us closer to Him.
We are called to serve our community and those in need, through both physical and spiritual acts of love and kindness.
We seek to spread the good news of Jesus Christ to all people, and to share the gospel through both deed and word.
We prioritize the practice of discipling others in the faith, helping them to grow in their understanding of the Bible and their relationship with God.
We strive to be wise stewards of the resources God has given us, using them to meet the needs of the church and community.
We seek to foster unity in diversity, standing together as a church family united in our purpose of sharing God’s love.
We strive to be a holy people, living in obedience to God’s Word and in surrender to the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.
We seek to fulfill the Great Commission, making disciples of Jesus Christ in our region and beyond.
As part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), we believe in the Lordship of Jesus in our lives.
We believe that the Bible serves as a guide for Christian living and faith, truly revealing God’s purpose in the world: to free us from sin through Christ. Disciples have always stressed openness to Christ and the Gospel, without dogma, and the rebirth of the values found in the New Testament accounts of the early church. Each person is free to explore and interpret the Scriptures according to their own experience. This is God’s Story of presence and redemption in our world today.
God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit—is outlined in John 16:5-16. God the Father is revealed in many ways, primarily through Jesus, with no set beliefs about God as everyone experiences the deity differently. Christ, the Son of God, is part of God's own divinity, the Son of Man who lived on earth as human, and our Savior who is with us always. The Holy Spirit lives and works in the minds and hearts of believers.
We believe in the public confession of belief in Christ and repenting of sins; acceptance of Jesus as Lord of our lives. This happens within a worship service as a first time commitment. We also live out that public confession each day through our word and actions in the world we live in.
Unity of all Christians in love of Christ is essential. Although we may have differences in aspects of our lives, we come together in unity of our faith and through Jesus’ invitation to the Communion Table. We are called to “Remember Him” and we do so in unity of faith. Doctrines and human differences should not be allowed to divide believers from each other.
Inclusive ministry is central to the life and work of the church. We welcome and encourage ALL people to use the gifts they have to build up the body of Christ and to serve the community that we live in. ALL are welcome in leadership and service. All members are "ministers" entitled to interpret the Scriptures and perform church functions.
The Ordinances of the Gospel, as outlined in Matthew 28:18-20, include Baptism and the Lord's Supper. Baptism is an act by which a believer enters into the Church and is for mature individuals who are old enough to make their own decisions. It is performed by immersion in water, the accepted New Testament practice, and serves as a public confession of faith in Jesus Christ and a commitment to discipleship. Baptism symbolizes Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection, as well as faith in life to come. We also accept previous baptisms and celebrate them together. You do not need to be rebaptized to be a member or part of the church.
The Lord’s Supper (Communion) is the invitation of Jesus to come and Remember Him. We receive the bread and Cup, that represents the Body and shed Blood of Jesus and reminds us of the New Life that we have through faith. Communion is central to our worship service and we are drawn back to it each Sunday as we gather together. This time and action in worship draws the congregation closer together, in thanksgiving for forgiveness of sins and renewal of life, and in dedication to Christ’s way. ALL are welcome at the Table at Jesus’ invitation.
